WebCenter Content – 11g Extended Support to End December 2021

With a little over a year left until 11g Oracle extended support ends, now is the perfect time to consider upgrading to 12c.

One of the worst capital losses a business can experience is product downtime. In a 2016 study conducted by Gartner, findings showed that the average cost for business network downtime is $5,600 per minute; this equates to $336,000 per hour. To put into perspective business size, Gartner estimates that a majority of Fortune 500 companies can incur losses in excess of one million dollars per hour! These costs have consistently grown and continue to grow exponentially year after year. Companies that rely heavily on Oracle and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems to drive their business can expect figures close to these amounts for downtime cost calculations.

Unfortunately, achieving 100% uptime for products is an unattainable goal; however, upgrading to the latest version of each product helps mitigate downtime and saves the company downtime costs, as well as costs associated with Oracle Extended Support.

The following tables outline the various support offerings for WebCenter products as well as provide various support offerings termination dates:

As seen in the final table above, many Oracle support offerings will be eliminated for WCC in the next year. In addition, companies currently receiving the Extended Support offering are paying an absolute premium for Oracle support services.
